Month: July 2016
A song that, lately, has been
replaying in my head. Often.
Written and released in 1972
by Timmy Thomas, the song
was recently sampled by Drake,
and has been covered by many,
many artists.
Attached is a favorite version
by bassist Kyle Eastwood, with
stunning vocals by Diana King
that drive home the lyrics.
Music truly soothes the soul,
and right now this sad planet
could use a little healing.
Why Can’t We Live Together?

Newly bathed, closely shaved, a
happy shirt for a freshly-squeezed
morning. The usually usual
wake-up confusion, but the
trousers go on one leg at a time,
like everybody else. Shoes shined
and double-tied. A smile.
Mismatched socks you fail to
notice because you are confidently
looking up and ahead to
this beautiful day.
Here comes the weekend; that’s
got to count for something.

a few years on
thoughts
still there
the dream is not gone
but questions
remain
why?
a day’s courageous
humidity
does nothing
but stir up memories
still no
answers
why?
