life notes; flaws and all

a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

   Full Moon,
       fingernail Moon;
          no Moon at all.
     New Moon silent,
   its powers obscured, but
       the aura can be felt.
        Of course it inspires.
  It always does.

Shame

We languish in sorrow, or guilt.
Shame, a common thread, for the treatment of
the missing and the dead.

To ignore is to dehumanize, to disregard,
to disrespect. Historically, we continued to look past
those not accounted for. Where now?

Lives lived. Not forgotten, not ever, by
those who care. Systemic discrimination by those
with power to overlook a national tragedy.

No honour. No concern. No political will
for change. Decades of ignorance. No justice for victims,
no penalties for perpetrators. Shame.

In Hindsight

Reasons are excuses,
explanations simple
rationalizations for
what you are thinking
or feeling. History is
full of reasons and,
in hindsight, excuses.
Or promises.
I have known many.
