a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

reading

Vacant afternoon in the August heat,
the summer sun a tactile pleasure.
Perfect for a lazy day.
Find a spot with a little shade, or a
lot of sunscreen in direct light.
Relax with a book; allow your mind
to wander through, and your fingers
to caress, the pages of a mystery,
classic literature, trash fiction, or
memoir.
Delve into the emotion with devotion,
at your leisure. Find time for an old
favorite, or new romance. Touch the
pages, and let them touch you. Soak up
the words and let the feeling take you
through the week, and beyond.

Find the message in the
misunderstanding, the source
of your hesitation, search out
the underlying motivation
of your core beliefs, and
express your desires
as often as your doubts.
If you can’t speak your
mind honestly, and with
intention, how can you
expect others to understand
what the hell
you are talking about?
And while you’re at it, send out
some positive vibrations. All
this week there has been
far too many distractions and
delays, too much dysphoria
and too few toothy grins.
Get out there and give the
weekend the attention
it deserves. Have some fun
(and keep a little bail money
tucked in your sock just in case).

Familiar Road

live

Brightening sky, the questioning why,
each day.     World not awake, not yet,
and neither are you.     Off to work, or
off to where?               The road ahead,
you only stare.
This is not living, but coping. Existing,
at this hour.          We do
what we must, as we can, in the space
stretching between silence and
satisfaction.                          Biding time,
tempted by what we know
and what we need.     Questioning why.
Another try, day for day,
find your way.                   Another wait.
Familiar road.    Days the same, no one
to blame, but your self.     If you choose,
if you see,
if you try, if you feel.
The bills arrive, of that we know.
Is this the only way to go?             Live,
as you can, and must, amid the truth,
 without the trust.        Questioning sky,
common day, recognizable road,
is there another way?
It is as much about how you navigate
                     your way through daylight,
as it is through the darkness.
Take the time, know what is right,
sustain yourself through the light.
