a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

Halloween Is For Kids

Think back to tricks and treats,
a lifetime ago. When candy
was candy, and not calories;
when dressing up was fun,
not something we do every day.
Yeah, we all wear costumes,
we all have an image to portray
every day.
Be a little less of an adult today.
Halloween is for kids. . .
remember?

Mondays are just young Fridays

I am not my thoughts
I am my breath
I am not always right
I am what is left
I am not my past
I am what remains
I am not rigid
I am change *

We are what we are. Formed by where we have come from, influenced by many people along our path, we are the way we are because of cumulative life events.
It all adds up, but is not the sum of our self.
The seasons and the years of our past remind us, often, of where we have been, but that is not it. We are more than our troubles, greater than our achievements and failures, and more significant than we realize.
We need to shift our thinking from what has happened to what can happen.
  Look ahead.
  Keep changing.
Put the distance between what you were so you can go the distance and see what you can be.

As They Were

We are selective in what we remember, and why.
We may subconsciously block out the doubt we once felt to remember the stronger emotions that shone through.
Now we live with the memories, as it was or as we remember, even when the doubt comes back.
