Mythos & Marginalia

2015 – 2025: a decade of days

j.g.lewis

  • Mondays are just young Fridays

         Gradient change.

    All we have been offered

unto this day will be altered

    in meaning and ways

    unthought of until now.

         Variables: life’s way

    of maintaining interest in

    any subject or circumstance.

This is the nature of change.

         Miracles beyond

    immediate comprehension,

    what remains are patterns of

    perspective guiding us toward

    coming days.

         Already analogous, yet

not at all. My soul always finds

    great comfort in the fall.

  • fall into autumn

“I notice that Autumn is more the

season of the soul than of nature.”

                                 -Friedrich Nietzsche

       Autumn: is there more

to think about, or more time

    to think about it?

       We spend hours and days

    considering change,

    bewildering change, less based

    in time than on feelings.

       Neither bleak as winter, nor

    sultry like summer, certainly

not as messy as the spring

    announcing its arrival mostly

    with daily rain washing away

    any evidence of

    where we have been.

       Autumn keeps us waiting;

    it keeps us guessing.

       It might not feel right

    until it does. Unpredictable,

more a sensation than a day,

    date, or wait, Autumn will

    say hello only when

    it feels like it.

  • this day is important

    Today, September 21, is
    International Day of Peace.

Think about it; not so much
    the actual date, but think
    about peace.

    World Peace.

    Inner Peace.

    Peace amongst people.

    People amidst peace.

    International Day of Peace
    was established in 1981 by
    the United Nations.

    This day is important, but
    shouldn’t everyday be about
    peace?

    Is it possible?

    Think about it.

    peace

    “If everyone demanded peace
    instead of another television set,
    then there would be peace.”
    -John Lennon

  • demands of the day

It has been such a busy week.

You still have so much to do. The tasks you meant to do Tuesday remain incomplete.

       It’s Friday.

You didn’t even get around to what you meant to accomplish yesterday, and it weighs heavily on your psyche. Today’s deadlines and expectations will surely take a toll.

It is more than unbearable pressure. All those appointments only led to disappointment. Your desk is a mess and the back-to-back demands of the day only complicate matters. All those unarticulated strategies and unnecessary activities result only in overwhelming anxieties.

You feel the work week. Your resolve is even weaker in this struggle to maintain some sort of work/life imbalance.

             Stop.                          Breathe.

Just for a moment, right now, stop everything you are doing. Put it all aside for a minute or two and think about what is important to you.

Then, remind yourself not to let everything else get in its way.

       It is that important.

  • important information

    what if I told you

it is not what it seems

    supposing I said

it is not all you believe

    important information

    difficult to tell.

    what if you told me

    you think for yourself
