2015 – 2025: a decade of days

a daily breath

  • Mondays are just young Fridays

A holiday Monday: the final day of a much-needed (and much-appreciated) three-day weekend.
We need more days like this, a day where nothing is as it usually is and we can use the time to do the things we’ve been trying to do but haven’t been able to make the time to do them.
I’ve got a desk that needs more than a simple uncluttering (in fact, an entire office that needs more than a little organization), more than a few chores, but most of all, I have several letters to respond to.
It seems, these days, I can’t find the time during the week to reply to letters from regular letters writers (certainly more regular than I have been lately), so given that today is a free day, I shall do just that.
I am a letter writer, I like to say, but lately haven’t been writing as many as I should. I got a start on one letter yesterday, but yesterday (like so many other days) turned into a day where I didn’t do what I intended to do. It was another day of incomplete intentions and, in reflection, I’m still not sure why.
So today is that day, unplanned or not, that I shall write about what’s been going on to the people who took the time to write and tell me what is going on in their lives.
Letters are a wonderful way to share thoughts and tales of the now and then, and a joy to read, especially when you take the time to read and respond.
Today is that kind of day and I’ve got so much to say.

  • questionable knowledge

Look past the misplaced wisdom, preconceived notions and questionable knowledge you involve in each decision you make.
       Think outside the thought.
Delve deeper into the documented information available at any time and come up with fresh angles as you attempt new subjects.
Approach any task or testament as if you know nothing. We all have new things to learn and greater ways of learning.

  • hearsay

    This day, like
    those other days
    will suffer a continual stream
    of misplaced knowledge
    and disinformation.
What we hear, what they say,
hearsay, anyway you look at it.
    It comes in layers; rumours,
    falsities, deceit or abject
    ignorance (occasionally)
and still we try to listen
    for the truth.

  • Mondays are just young Fridays

    Monday.
Another Monday: a fresh start to a brand new week that begins today.
We need Mondays as much as we need the weekends, those Saturdays and Sundays that allow a little relief from the disappointments and downfalls of the previous week. We all need that break. The weekend provides perspective.
If Monday were a meal, it would be breakfast. Mondays break the fast from the time away from the everyday stuff that simply happens as it does.
Come Monday, after a well-deserved break, we are ready to step back into the regular patterns of the work-week and all the obligations that continue to pile up from day to day.
Mondays set the tone for how the forthcoming week will progress.
Today is Monday. Get out there and try to enjoy the day, and all those that follow.

  • the lessons

    What we learn from
the past, we take with us
    to future days. Like today
    will become our past
    and the lessons will
    continue. You count on
    your memory. Remember
    not to forget.
