Mythos & Marginalia

2015 – 2025: a decade of days

a daily breath

  • A few days away from the everyday,
time off (if you can get it) for reasons
    religious, spiritual, or otherwise …
    a holiday around a date.
    Its significance means what you
want it to mean. Be truthful.
For many it is time with family or
friends; some will travel far and wide,
    you may simply stay home.
    Enjoy your moments.
    Feel the comfort.
    Happy Holidays.

  • Generous Life

Each day, going forward, those remnants of darkness will give way to the light that stretches and grows and illuminates more of the generous life before us.
As we approach the New Year, every day a little more light, we find scattered fractions of time and thought. Darkness allows us time to reflect with increased hours to dream and discover our ways and our weaknesses.
       Each day we step forward.
Take a few moments, here and there, to consider where you are more than where you want to be.

  • Mondays are just young Fridays

    We light the candles
    this season more than most.

    Culturally, spiritually, emotionally,
we find a reason for greater light.

In times of darkness, or in celebration,
we find comfort in the flame.

We find comfort in sharing our light
    with others. Shine on.

  • a good day

We measure our days; in fact, we measure our lives, in increments.
Some days are better than others, a few better than most.
It is all about perspective, depending on the day or the date.
Some dates are forever etched in our mind.
       Those are the good days.
For me, today is one of those dates.

  • Expectations and Possibilities

What we expect and what we receive will often differ.
For days this city has been preparing for a big dump of snow. All we’ve been hearing about in the media is the weather pattern expected to come up from the states. On the news we see the images from provinces to our west and the near-blizzard conditions that have painted the landscape, but all we’ve got here is rain.
The anticipation of precipitation has held us in our place, prevented us from making plans or attempting travel near or far.
My prairie heritage has given me the expectation of snow in December, though here in Toronto the possibilities of a white Christmas lessen as each day goes by. It is not right if it’s not white, in my humble opinion.
So I’ll stay here watching the sky and waiting for snow. When expectations are unrealized, there is always hope.
