a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

Letters from friends: news not only
from another part of the planet, but
stories of what’s going on in another
person’s world.
We receive fewer letters in this age
of instant, so when one arrives in the
mailbox you appreciate what is in
the envelope.
You realize someone has taken a little
extra time to sit down, actually slow
down, and record the moments with
paper and pen. There is a certain
intimacy to the sharing of thoughts,
or stories; a more organic connection.
  It is uncommon communication, now,
and you read the sentiment differently
than you would off a screen.
You know a reply will be received in
the same manner when you write back.
Do write back. Send a message.

Mondays are just young Fridays

Coordinates unclear,
the first wonder of a new day.
Open your eyes,
light diffused, a little confused,
gradually you wake. Go slow.
Morning coffee:
is there a better type
to wash away remnants
of the darkness that exists?
A cloudy day any way,
no need to rush.
You sit and settle
into this reality, every cell
of your being readjusting.
Recalibrate your emotions.
Don’t rush it.
No need today.
Yesterday no longer matters.
