a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

Everything does not have
to be the same.
Everything does not have
to change.
You are not going to like
everything, and everyone
is not going to like you.
What you choose to do
with this information is
your decision.
You can change what you
want, you can even change
you, but only if that is what
you want to do.
Everything, and anything,
can change. Sometimes
we like to keep it the same.

What Matters

What can you detach yourself from
to become more connected with
everything that matters?
Habits, vices, practices, words, and
material possessions all have a way
of shifting our attention from the
causes and concerns ultimately
more important to our being.
Ask yourself what matters.
What are the things in your life that
hold you back from strengthening
the relationships you have, or want
to have, even with your self?

Can You?

Can you believe the promise
of a new day when those before
prove to be less than expected,
and not what was anticipated?
Is your breath deep with words
of hope, your mind ever open
to accepting the courage offered,
and your back able to support
the weight of the world? Will you
continue trying to silence beliefs
that harm, and ideals that kill?
Can you find the charity required
to share your soul with strangers?
