Morning observations rarely register
as we wake and wander our way
through infant hours.
It takes a moment for
the mind to come alive while
the gravity of the day settles in.
We fail to notice little things,
considerably more substantial days ago,
perhaps once meaningful or spiritual,
now displaced as the second hand
of the wristwatch sweeps onward.
Afford yourself opportunity
to be distracted by butterflies, soon
a scent of lilacs, freesia, even the taste of
spring rain or requisite morning coffee.
In days so rent with common
occurrences, look beyond
what is there.

Mondays are just young Fridays
The things we do, every day,
impact on how we function
in our own way. Where we go,
how we get there, by train
or car, like the more or less
moments that become
who we are.
Habits are formed
without us being aware; the
things we do, here or there.
They just get done; it is
what we do. We practice
or promise, we try anyway,
to do something meaningful
or productive,
every damn day.
If seven days is too few,
and 21 is a myth, how long
does it take for
a habit to stick?
What it comes down to
is how you prepare. Do you
keep moving forward,
or do you stop,
do you dare?
