Mythos & Marginalia

2015 – 2025: a decade of days

a daily breath

  • Mondays are just young Fridays

        Memories are more
    than history. Year to year,
the more we try to create
the less we seem to recall.
       The why or the
    who, then, and when did
       it cease to register?
       Short-term memory, long
    term lapse of accountability,
    the consequence or
       the significance of it all
    only makes sense when
       you want it to.

A new page in my journal, a fresh new month ahead of me, and my thoughts and my focus changes with September.
Summer is drawing to a close.
As the calendar pages flip from one month to the next, the journal fills with observations, accounts of events and days I am privileged to attend, and obligations I attend to. It is important to write it all out.
Random scrabble marks the days of my life, and what a life it is.
The journal helps me remember by putting time into perspective.
The things that matter now may not in the coming months and years, but right now they do.
Another day. Another page. Write on.

  • you can’t imagine

There are those days when nothing moves, little is done, and everything seems wrong; or incorrect. Not up to your expectations.
Uninspired, you lack the motivation or the magic to continue or see a project through. Maybe you can’t get started?
The potential you felt seems so far off.
At times, you can’t imagine what you were thinking. If you could, you wouldn’t find yourself in this predicament.

  • Mondays are just young Fridays

    Another day. It changes,
    daily, from what we have
    experienced to what we
will know when the day is
    done and we’ve seen our
    way through the calamities
    and chaos.
    Tonight we will reflect.
    We always do.
    What will you learn?
What will it mean to you?

  • support yourself

As depressing as it is, the feelings of being let down (or letting yourself down) cannot be permitted to take over.
        You deserve more than that.
Disappointment provides too much time to think, even obsess, about what went wrong or what is wrong at the time, or over time.
Try not to think about it.
Consider instead what you can do to support yourself
        Self-care begins with you.
Take care of yourself. As difficult as it is, look past the disappointment.
