life notes; flaws and all

a daily breath...

A thought du jour, my daily breath includes collected and conceived observations, questions of life, fortune cookie philosophies, reminders, messages of peace and simplicity, unsolicited advice, inspirations, quotes and words that got me thinking. They may get you thinking too . . .

I'm like a pencil;
sometimes sharp,
most days
well-rounded,
other times
dull or
occasionally
broken.
Still I write.

It’s a fresh, new
morning; a new day,
a new week
taking us closer
to a new year and a
new decade.
Another decade and
another chance to
get past
the past.
Step forward,
move forward,
be forward.

Question The Conditions
Posted on November 17, 2019 by j.g.lewisLeave a comment

What we experience, what happens to us, during this day-to-day struggle we call life is not always right, or just, or welcomed.
Many times, it keeps on happening because we allow it to happen.
We, all too often, accept what is offered and do not question the conditions or look for other options. We suffer with the consequences.
Look instead for alternatives and opportunities for change. Refuse to accept the state or status quo, give yourself permission to say NO.
Try another perspective.
It can be challenging, it can be downright difficult, but it can also be rewarding.
You can’t always control what happens to you, but you can try.

The Present
Posted on November 16, 2019 by j.g.lewisLeave a comment

Conditions may vary
but never the time.
It is now,
a common present.
        Share what you can,
with friends and family.
           as situations allow,
in the now.   Be mindful,
especially today, of those
who are not with you
for whatever reason.
Appreciate what is there
and what you have,
            in your heart,
in the now.
There is no time like
the present.   Be grateful
for the now.
